Singing Lessons Help Children Develop Confidence and Self-Esteem

Research shows us how beneficial music education can be for kids, and our experience underscores how voice lessons for kids can improve a child’s confidence. Our supportive and engaging singing classes for kids help students explore their own unique musical style and give them opportunities to sing in front of others when they are ready.

If your child wants to be a performer, Peak Music is where your young singer needs to be!

Our students perform at least three to four times a year in public venues. While recitals are “nice,” if your child wants an edge in auditions or other musical pursuits, they need to perform in public. We have high expectations for our students and see how public performances increase their skill set. They’ve performed at Cohoes Music Hall, Christmas Land in Altamont, and are regulars at Colonie Center Mall. In December, they’re slated to perform at the Palace Theater in Albany!

Our students have the opportunities to write their own songs and to be professionally recorded.

Over the course of the year, we devote class time to songwriting instruction for all of our vocalists. They learn about song structure, write their own lyrics, and work with our guitarists to setting their lyrics to music. Peak Music produces and distributes music as a studio, and when they are ready, students are invited to sing on our pro recordings. Check out some of the students’ recordings.

FAQ

Our youth singing program welcomes students aged 5 to 14, offering both small group classes and individual sessions tailored to each child’s needs. We have extensive experience working with diverse learning styles, ensuring that every child receives age-appropriate musical education. To explore how we can support your child’s musical journey, please fill out a web form, and Crystal will be in touch to discuss your child’s needs. If our studio seems like the right fit, we’ll invite you and your child for a complimentary voice consultation.

Our youth singing lessons stand out in the area for several reasons. We offer small group classes (4-5 students) that meet weekly for an hour. Utilizing a comprehensive learning platform, we provide all lesson materials, including backing tracks and exercises. Students are encouraged to practice exercises for 10-15 minutes at least five days a week, tailored to their age and skill level. Our curriculum emphasizes vocal strength, agility, team building, and regular public performances. Singing in a group fosters a fun environment, boosts confidence through peer interaction, and facilitates friendship building. Beyond singing skills, we aim to develop increased confidence and leadership abilities in our students.

We don’t charge per lesson but operate on a tuition model for our group classes. If price is your primary concern, we may not be the best fit for you. At Peak Music, we prioritize delivering premium quality education. Our instructors, certified from Berklee College of Music, specialize in voice, guitar, and bass, with additional training in music pedagogy (how to teach music). With extensive experience, we accommodate diverse learning styles, including special needs. Prices vary based on service type. Fill out a web form, and Crystal will provide more details on our pricing structure.

We actively encourage our parents and caregivers to be involved in their child’s musical education. We partner with our families to help them provide a home environment where practice is a regular part of the child’s day and is not a source of conflict. We keep our parents and caregivers (we call them Home Managers) regularly apprised of their student’s progress and encourage them to observe classes. The family is integral to the success of students.

During the consultation, we will look at the child’s pitch matching, sense of rhythm, and aural skills. If the child would like, they are welcome to sing a song but that is not necessary. The consultation gives the family a chance to meet us, learn how we approach musical education, check out the space, and ask any questions. It also gives us a chance to assess the child’s individual needs, and their readiness for small group classes or individual sessions.
